Loud sigh. I made the cutest letter and for weeks I procrastinated sending it out bc I wanted to photograph everything. There’s a moth stamp, a silver dollar, cute shit. And what do I do? I get hyper focused on just sealing everything I black out. I literally didn’t even remember I didn’t take pics till after the envelope had its third layer of tape wrapped around it lol. Maybe it’s for the best. It’s for the lady who created hello kitty. I guess she’s retiring and Sanrio wrote an article and encouraged fan mail. And I’m a fan. I was a kid- like not even in school yet, living in New York. My parents got me a hello kitty book. I knew hello kitty before I knew anything else. I read about her sister Mimi and her boyfriend Daniel before I could even tie my own shoes.
here’s what I included in my letter:
- wildflower seeds
- lunar Moth postage stamp
- a pic of me and my man dressed as dirty peasants
- a silver dollar in confetti
- a tiny letter about what hello kitty means to me
- a little crummy drawing of hk as botan
- a pressed dogwood from my neighborhood
- watercolor samples
- Mini perfume paper samples (I just thought it would be cool bc I would love it if someone from another country mailed me something in their language)
- pics of the countryside (one in the daytime during the summer, one at night looking at the horizon)
- a print I made for the ren fair
- some other miscellaneous things
and my hopes and dreams are included in this letter. I hope Ms. Yuko Yamaguichi receives this and loves it. I wanted to make it really special.
